The vision for this event is for it to allow participants to simply Be, as they are, and for them to feel a sense of freedom in movement and music. Guest musicians will have prepared a set list ahead of time to begin the event, their music allowing passerbys to dance and sing along as they wish. There will then be opportunities for open mic activities--whatever individuals feel in the mood to do or are inspired to do. As has happened in the past, passerbys join the dancing, singing, and even begin performing their own pieces on the instruments provided (a keyboard piano, mic, and speaker system). As we near the end of the year and finals, this event will allow students and other participants to take a step back, be present in the moment, and get a sense that all is well at the end of the day if we simply let ourselves live our best life.

The Festival of Insignificance: An Interactive Gallery with Performances
Emory Arts Underground is hosting our 6th annual Spring Showcase. This year's theme is the Festival of Insignificance. By insignificance, we mean the moments that you feel an overwhelming sense of your own smallness and temporal nature in the vast infinity of the Universe. Smallness in the good sense. It's a feeling that makes you sure you'll be okay against all odds and any day-to-day mistakes.
We asked the artists and performers to simply recreate what this means in their lives through a medium they felt most comfortable with. At this event, you will not only enjoy wonderful art but also get a glimpse of the lives of those belonging to the Emory community and beyond. Come join us for great art, performances, and FREE food.
LOCATION: Emory's Visual Arts Building DATE: February 24-25th, 2018 | Doors at 6:30
Performances are from 7-10PM on the 24th ONLY
Gallery is open both days (6:30-10PM 24th, 12-3PM 25th)

Miniatures & Giants: A Weeks of Welcome Interactive Event
Join us for an evening of interactive fun at our second annual Weeks of Welcome event, featuring student performers and artists displaying work you can hop in on! There will be improv dancing, an emotions paint wall, live music, and so much more! The theme Miniatures & Giants reflect our interest in exploring the moments in life where we've felt small or larger than life, the kinds of works that give impact regardless of their size, and the details and people we encounter that are more or less than what they seem.
