WHAT IS DARK ARTS?
Emory Dark Arts uses the life-affirming and subversive power of art to work towards fundamentally rewriting the culture surrounding mental health here at Emory.
Emory Dark Arts is a collective of individuals -- artists and not, mentally ill and not -- who believe in the value of platforms for meaningful, honest communication about these issues as a way to de-stigmatize mental illness and generate impactful change on campus and beyond.
We welcome anybody with whatever background in the arts, whatever background in the context of mental health, with whatever level of interest in being open or not about their experiences. No matter where you fall on any of those questions, we are a supportive space for those who seek it, a platform for those who wish to use it and build it, and a means of support for those who wish to remain behind the scenes but still play an integral role in meaningful mental health advocacy.
There is no application. New members are joining all the time and EVERYONE is welcome regardless of level of interest, ability to "commit," and however "late" in the school year it may be. Simply email and
come ready to join existing projects or come with your own ideas and let us be your platform to make your ideas a reality.
